My training at the Marriott School of Business gave me a strong technical foundation in information systems alongside a commitment to use that knowledge in service of others. The school's motto "Enter to learn. Go forth to serve." continues to shape how I approach my work.

Research

The capabilities of AI have advanced faster than our understanding of how people use them.

I study human-centered AI augmentation — how people think, decide, and behave when working with intelligent systems, and how the human side of that interaction shapes what augmentation ultimately delivers. My research advances a broader vision of interpretable, effective, and responsible AI use, organized around three interrelated threads.

User Cognition

Individual differences in cognition — heuristics, efficacy beliefs, attributions, and traits like divergent thinking — shape how each user approaches, interprets, and acts when using intelligent systems.

Decision-Making with AI

Many organizational decisions are made in collaboration with AI agents. AI reshapes the process by which decisions are made.

Humanistic AI Use

Understanding the boundaries of responsible AI use has never been more pressing. I ground my research in a humanistic commitment — intelligent systems should amplify, rather than erode, human capacities, character, and conscience.

I believe that it is primarily in the classroom that the IS discipline has the potential to empower individuals to understand and use technology in meaningful and productive ways.
That potential is why I view my role as instructor as both an immense responsibility and a privilege.

UGA MIST 4610 — Data Management and Analytics Database course covering database design, administration, and querying (SQL). Includes a module on data analytics and visualization.
BYU IS 505 — Programming for Data Science Graduate-level Python programming course covering pandas, data visualization, bivariate and multivariate statistics, text analytics, and data-driven decision making.
BYU IS 201 — Introduction to Management Information Systems Introductory course covering various technical topics including SQL, database design and management, web development, VBA, Tableau, and analytics.
